‘Who even has a bath anymore?’ was the thought that crossed my mind when I heard about bath bombs. Living in an extremely fast paced society, baths have become less and less common, with some households getting rid of them all together. I honestly hadn’t had a bath for years, opting to take a shower instead. So when we moved to our new place, I was hardly excited to have a bath in place of a shower.
I have walked past the Lush store countless times and the smell has made me curious but I never actually went in. Eventually, we bought a bath bomb for my daughter to make bath time more exciting. She enjoyed it a lot and funnily enough I became extremely curious as to whether bath bombs could possibly be incorporated in to my bed time routine, especially when I needed to relax. The colours and fabulous fragrance of the Lush bath bomb we purchased had convinced me to purchase a few more. Below I have included videos and pictures of each bath bomb I have reviewed to help guide you if you want to purchase any for yourself or as gifts.
This vibrant fuchsia pink bath bomb not only looks fantastic, but also smells divine. The vanilla and tonka scents are powerful and filled the whole bathroom within seconds of being put into water. Near the ending, the bath bomb fizzed beautiful hues of pink which left the water sparkling pink.
I spent roughly 30 minutes in the bath with this bath bomb. It left me relaxed and my skin nice and smooth. I should warn you though, wash away the pink stains and do not leave them. A decent bathroom spray will easily remove any colouring stains. Rating 7/10
The bright pink and blue bath bomb is most definitely the most exciting from the ones I picked up. Shades of pink, blue and yellow, burst out of the fast fizzing bath bomb alongside popping candy. Although extremely entertaining, the relaxing aromas and calming relaxants inside such as Vetivert, made for a perfect bath.
I used this after a long day and it really relaxed my muscles and the aroma was the perfect winding down environment for bedtime. My skin stayed soft and smooth for 24 hours after soaking in this bath bomb. I would definitely recommend using this before bed. I have bought this twice already as it was my favourite! Rating 8.5/10
Bright orange made me reach out for this one almost immediately. I love to watch the bright colours fizzing away in the bath tub. The stunning orange, yellow and pink which emerged, was reminiscent of fireworks in my bath tub. The lime oil was refreshing, but the balance of the cocoa butter and Orris Oil gave a perfectly harmonising scent that was neither too overpowering nor too strong for a sensitive nose. The cocoa butter did leave my skin amazingly soft and smooth for a few days afterwards.
I used this before bed and had an extremely relaxing sleep that night. I am not sure why this improved my quality of sleep but I felt quite relaxed after using this bath bomb. Rating 6.5/10
The rocket shape looks exciting and is great to buy. Unfortunately as the shape is unique, I accidentally managed to break the tail of the rocket. Breakages are more unlikely with the round bath bombs due to the shape and strength. The colours again were beautiful and exciting to watch. This bath bomb fizzed very slowly taking around ten minutes, considering the size and shape of the item (it’s a rocket!), I was quite surprised. The pink and blue shades made way for a beautiful yellow and green. The overall bath shade was a deep blue and stains if not washed properly afterwards.
The fragrance from this bath bomb is uplifting and the Sicilian Lemon Oil and Bergamot is unique and refreshing. Generally I tend to prefer muskier and vanilla scents so this zesty combination was not quite my favourite. Although the smell was not my favourite, the actual aroma left me extremely relaxed and I almost fell asleep in the bath (very odd for a zesty and uplifting scent). Bergamot Oil is known for its properties of clearing the mind which is probably why I felt extremely refreshed yet ready for bed after using. If not for the slightly unique smell and slow fizzing (I am quite impatient) this bath bomb would have been rated a lot higher. Rating: 6.5/10
The relaxing nature of this bath bomb probably is incomparable to the other bath bombs. This one was a difficult one to review as there is nothing spectacular about the colour, or the way it fizzes in the bath tub. It is an unassuming bath bomb, probably regularly overlooked unless you have tried it before. The scent which emerges from this bath bomb is absolutely divine. I can honestly say I loved the smell of my bathroom afterwards. My skin was left extremely smooth and I felt relaxed after using this.
The Jasmine combined with the Mimosa, Orange Flower and Lemon Oil is a hypnotic scent and feels beautifully calming and relaxing. The lack of colouring and presence of Jasmine is perfect for sensitive skin. Rating 7/10
When I went to purchase bath bombs, I chose this particular bath bomb first. With the white exterior but little spots of colour, I presumed that exciting pops of colour would burst out when put into water. I was quite disappointed to realise the exciting spots of colour turned out to be merely pieces of confetti that really added nothing to the usual show of a Lush bath bomb. The white bath bomb fizzed at a medium pace with glitter shimmering across the top of the bath tub. The orange colour inside was a nice surprise as was the popping candy. The gold glitter came alongside the orange colour and the ending result was a yellowy orange bath colour which was not quite as tempting to sit in as the other colours. The yellow shade looked reminiscent of something I do not associate with cleanliness.
Bergamot Oil and Lemon Oil are both refreshing in scent and extremely cleansing. However as they are very uplifting this is more suitable to a day time bath bomb. I probably will not choose this one again as I do not tend to have baths in the morning. The orange colour did stain the bath but it was easily washed away. The gold glitter was not as obvious or beautiful looking in my bath tub probably because of the lighting in my bathroom. Rating 5/10
The size and colour of this bath bomb, makes it naturally more overlooked in comparison to its exciting and colourful counterparts. However, I do feel this bath bomb, although it does not put on an exciting show when put into water, probably provided the best level of hydration for my skin. The fat floating on the bath water was quite unappealing at first. When I realised that my skin was extremely smooth and soft after the bath (after about an hour), the benefits of the cocoa butter came across very strongly. The scent was extremely sweet, almost sickening at some points, but the moisturising element of the bath bomb is unrivalled in comparison to other alternatives.
I used this bath bomb in the evening and enjoyed the sweet relaxing aroma. It did become quite overpowering after a while and I opted to cut my bath short due to the scent. The grease left in my bath tub was slightly irritating, as it had to be scrubbed thoroughly after the bath. The absence of any colouring or glitter makes it excellent for those with sensitive skin. Rating 5/10
This colourful medley was also quite similar to the experimenter in terms of colours and melting. However the beautiful gold and blue glitters which burst out almost like a galaxy and the scent was quite different. The peppermint and grapefruit oils certainly left a strong and revitalising scent. The smell was refreshing and perfect for waking up in the morning. The only downside I would see to this is I genuinely do not have time for bath bombs in the morning so I probably would think twice about purchasing this one again for myself. My daughter however, really enjoys watching this exciting bath bomb fizz away and playing in the bath, so it would be great to purchase for your children. Rating: 6.5/10
Overall, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed using these bath bombs and have become a big fan of Lush products through using these. My bathroom and drawers where I stored the bath bombs smelt great for days. I look forward to my weekly relaxing bath time and try to make time as often as possible to sit and relax. The brand has a clean image and genuinely cares about the environment and they use reduced chemicals and additives and parabens and plenty of organic natural ingredients. All their products are usually made by an individual which is great in the age of manufacturing and technology.
Keep an eye out for further bath bomb and Lush product reviews as they have a huge range of limited edition and kitchen exclusive bath bombs. Have you tried any of their products? I would love to hear your comments and reviews on their bath bombs.
